Today is ‘Cyber Monday’.  Don’t panic this doesn’t mean that Skynet has gone live and the robotic revolution to overthrow humanity has begun. It turns out this is just what retailers call the first Monday after shoppers have received their final pay packet before the festive season.  Phew!

Online retailers are gearing up for the busiest shopping day of the year – hopefully – as we all stampede through our browsers to get the best deals for Christmas presents.

Analyst tapping away on their calculators predict that we will spend around £7.75 billion online during Christmas – does anyone else wonder what kind of magic ball these guys are using?  There is bad news for the High Street though, with the economic mystics predicting a 2.1 per cent fall in December sales due mainly to so many sales starting early this year.

Well now that all that news coverage is over what does this day mean for us?  Well it means bargains, don’t it?

Due to the fact that we are all becoming savvy to the money saving benefits of online shopping, more and more of us are getting thrifty online rather than on the high street.  The fierce competition between online retailers has forced almost 90 per cent of them to run promotions today in an attempt to win our cash.  Here are a few of my favourites.

All saints are offering 20% off everything for today only, get in there.

Banana Republic are offering 25% off all items including free delivery on all orders over £30, magic word is MERRY25 –TODAY ONLY!

Play.com are offering mega deals today, I’ve seen an 8GB flash card for a fiver.

Amazon have a veritable smorgasboard of deals across all departments to whip you into a festive frenzy.

Debenhams are offering up 30% off woman’s, men’s and kid’s outwear.

It’s not just gifts that are on offer, services will also be reduced today, from web hosting to savings accounts.  So whatever you might think you need, or just want, get looking for it today.

I don’t know about you, but I’m not getting much work done today.  I need to get going and get back to shopping, I’ll update this post if I come across any other great offers.

Here’s a little video to remind you why you should shop online over christmas.

If you have any hot tips and come across any bargains we should no about please let me know in the comments below.
